When I was little give me tape and paper and I was in creative heaven. The paper wasn't always necessary because I could construct whole worlds out of tape alone. I still love tape and I know it's not just me, Allen with a gleeful smile (a grown man) used lots of tape taping ornaments to the Christmas tree this year. Don't waste the tape we have all been told, but who can resist playing with it when no one is looking?
So it's no surprise that I've been making books with Japanese washi tape. These books are made with only paper and tape. The signatures are taped together - no sewing.
I wasn't sure if it would be strong enough to hold the books together during use, so I kept the books small to reduce the tension on the tape. And with use they are holding together well.
I've used card stock for the covers to give the books some substance. There isn't much more to these books, they are simple and quick to make.
The thing that makes this tape so fun is that it comes in lots of colors and patterns, so many possibilities! If you can't find the tape in your area cutetape.com and happytape.bigcartel.com are a couple of good sources.
That first book (or 2 books?) is utterly gorgeous! Love love love! What a wonderful use of washi tape.
